I worked on Monday for a handful of hours to get the high poly ZBrush wings to project down to the low poly version that has proper UVs and then bring that into Substance Painter and adjust the basic smart material I made to shade the fur (without the hand painted patterns) so that they fit directionally for each wing. I then exported out all the maps and put them into the Look Dev testing file for the character model. I made a couple renders of the wings, one unposed and one posed. I struggled a lot with getting the displacement maps from ZBrush to work I'm not sure what exactly I'm doing wrong after a lot of research so I will set that aside for now since the normal maps work pretty well even if they don't get the ragged/feathered edge of the wings in the silhouette.

As I previously suspected, with such dark lighting, it will be difficult to make the patterns on the wings show up, so finding a balance of contrast and subtly will be key moving forward with the textures beyond just messing around with them.
I also worked on layout for shot s3000 which I requested. It's the "faux timelapse" where the artist is frantically painting in the studio. This is the long pull out shot thats centered on the windows from behind from the animatic where the canvases appear one by one in the room as well as more moths.
We reorganized our pipeline folders over the weekend which disconnected a lot of assets in the scene assemblies and I lost a lot of my progress on the lighting of this particular shot and rendering it, but I tried to quickly approximate what it looked like before the file stopped working properly:
A couple of the people working on texturing props and the interior of the house have expressed that they have had a hard time with getting the wood materials to look consistent so I made a section on our Miro board specifically for stylized wood textures. I personally really liked the one on the bottom right on the sphere, I feel like it is both painterly and subtle enough that it could be used in a lot of the house. It was cheap so I got it on ArtStation in hopes we could play around with it and make it our own. Even if we don't end up using it I wanted it just for my own use and to take it apart and see how it works.
